Now Playing: Johnny Cash - Hurt

Darren happened to drive by my old apartment today and this song was playing on his radio.

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end

Marlin's 22nd Birthday

We decided to give her a surprise since she was at Uni all day and then studying all night. I went to Dhoby Gaud to get her her favourite Chocolate Banana cake from Secret Recipe but it was freaking sold out! I was so upset I said "SHIT" straight into the nice waiter's face. Then Mei messaged me saying that she just found out that there was actually a closer outlet at Bishan. DARN IT! I travelled all the way in peak hour crowds!

Phew! They had her precious cake!

So I met Mei after her work and we trained down to CCK. To check that Marlin was home, I called her house before hanging up on her. Funny!

When we got there, we buzzed her on the intercom and screamed "SURPRISE!!!!"

There was a loooong pause before Marlin said, "Eh! Where are you??"

Dumbest question of the year!

Anyways, she buzzed us in and we were at the lifts preparing the cake and stuff when this happened (we also, erm, dropped the candle several time and Mei even broke it. We were basically laughing a lot).

In case you couldn't get what the hell was going on or what we were saying (a lot of singlish I know, but it was so funny) - Marlin surprised us by coming down to meet us. When we were in the lifts, I tried to light the candle but then Marlin said there were fire alarms in the lift. I'm SO glad I started video-ing early else would have missed this priceless moment. =D

Mei's very extra in most of the photos. In quite a few where I'm taking Marlin, her chicken wing is right smack in the middle of the photo. (I have heaps more but am only putting up a few)

Happy! Sha la la!

See? Mei's extra again. Conform to peer pressure lah!

The 1st time I've seen someone blow out their candle while watching TV.

Yum!

Marlin's happy about her cake! I ate most of it though....and I wasn't even hungry.

Opening her present.

I bought her a Polo vest. That pink thing is strawberry corn that I've been searching for for ages! Found it in Daiso.

When it came time to leave, I was very reluctant since I would be coming back to her place again they following day. In the end, we took a cab back to my place and Marlin waited for me while I packed. We then cabbed back to her place where I spent the night. The 2 of them paid for all the fares and refused to let me pay. It's almost like I've got female Darren's now taking care of me. Marlin says that I can pay for their stuff/give them a treat once I get a job.

In a cosy air-conditioned room, she studied (she was surfing the net a lot though! Naughty!) till 3am.

And I read in bed. (Stupid White Men. I'm very behind the times I know, but at least I'm reading it now. I was previously reading Grisham's 1st non-fiction attempt - The Innocent Man, and it was FABULOUS. Go read it! Go go go!)

The next morning, she left for Uni to sit for her test. I opened all the curtains and was quite the happy camper. It was almost like being at Darren's, just no scary parents!

Met her for lunch at Clementi and we took a bus to this great Indian place opposite Beauty World (cha-cha-cha!). The drinks are sinful!

Thai Mee Goreng.

The whole lot was $11.70.

I got roti with banana and chocolate, and they served it with sugar (yikes...)

I'm still at Marlin's. Mei will come over tonight and we'll have a 24 Season 2 DVD marathon. But not before we play mahjong and have rich, delicious fondue!

Random photos from the past week:

Suntec and Marina Square with Mei (I spend most of my time with her since her work place is just 2 train stops away. See her at least 4 times a week). We bought durian puffs! 20 for $9. We, erm, ate them all. When we were at Marina Square, there was a National Service exhibition of sorts and we made this huge discovery - men from the Armed Forces are HOT! Those from the Navy/Air were icky. We then couldn't stop giggling as we mingled and pointed good looking ones out to each other. I spotted this HOT Eurasian army man and we stalked him for something like 5 minutes, laughing the whole time. I think we were quite conspicuous and were getting stares and so we moved along and got on with our boring lives after a while.

Buying Marlin's birthday present! That girl's an aspiring chef and we couldn't possibly let her continue using her mini toaster to bake her Shepard's pie!

In formal wear.

Chup Gor Mei (last day of CNY) family gathering. My little cousin Louis. She always looks so stoned.

They were singing Ring a Ring of Roses and this was the last part where "they all fall down". She's great entertainment. I just sit and watch and laugh.

With Mei again. Overpriced meal! She paid $7 all up.

Excited by the Aussie food section at the Supermarket (Dee - you should be ashamed to find out that my friends have been accompanying me on A LOT of supermarket trips!).

Darren gave me this link without any explanation or elaboration. Took me awhile to realise that the boys are currently featured right smack on the main page (it gets refreshed each time but 3 times out of 4, their band is there) and, get this....

SONY BMG (YES! SONY FREAKING BMG!) chose them as one of the "hot favourites"!

I'm so ridiculously stoked for Darren and Mike (don't give a toss about the other 2). They're good boys playing great music and I really hope the upcoming album finally makes it all worth it.

I thank God for bringing you into the world this day.

Hugs for you!

I cried myself to sleep last night and awoke with scary, swollen eyes. Have burst into tears a few times today. Am now seriously contemplating applying for PR. In the event that I do and I get it approved (which takes 6 months - a year), I wouldn't be going back with the intension of being in a relationship with Darren. Even as a friend, I miss him terribly. That's how special what we had is to me.

At nights in my big studio room and my King size bed, the only companion I have is little Hokey. The wireless died on me and my SIM is currently deactivated (long story. Lost handphone, Dad overseas etc). I kiss her every night before bed. Strangely, you'd think that'll depress me even more, but it actually makes me feel better.

In my last week in Melbourne, I completely forbade Darren to kiss me or hug me or say anything remotely sweet/romantic to me (the last one was quite hard for him I think. He kept accidentally slipping up). So once, when I was sitting on the bed sulking and upset (I can't remember why, I think it was just saddness about my upcoming departure), to cheer me up, he asked me where Hokey liked to be kissed. I pointed, he kissed her, then passed her to me so I could kiss her too. I refused.

So now, every time I kiss her, it's like I'm kissing him.

I know, I know, very pitiful and sappy. But I can't help it! He was an amazing boyfriend.
